Use our data and samples
AusPlots data and samples are freely available to the international scientific community to conduct research
When you use AusPlots data there are some associated expectations
That you acknowledge AusPlots as the data source and include TERN AusPlots in the acknowledgment section of your published paper/report/thesis
Why?.... We can then record that our infrastructure is being used, which makes it more likely to continue to be funded. Consequently, we will be able to continue to provide you and your colleagues with top quality data and samples into the future.
That you will submit derivative data, products and samples at the completion of your project, or after three years (samples 6 months) (whichever is earlier).
Why? .... Our data and samples were collected for use by all and we are obligated to make these available to everyone. You will undoubtedly appreciate that they were difficult and costly to collect. We therefore need to enable that maximum use is made of them.
That you send us copies of papers, books, book chapters, and conference papers etc that have been created using any of our data as soon as possible after their acceptance.
Why? .... This allows us to easily track the use of our infrastructure (see the first point above). It also enables us to add your citation to our website (we also encourage links to research gate etc) which potentially increase the exposure of your research - potentially leading to higher citation rates.
That you consider a more significant collaboration with our team
Why? ... Our highly skilled team have a huge amount of experience in designing and collecting this type of data and have been collecting it now for this project for over five years. As a result they may be able to contribute ideas or assistance to your project. This may range from preparing a few samples for you, through to conducting research with you and co-authorship of papers if they make a significant contribution. We're also happy to publish details of the collaboration on this website, with links to your research profile and / or your research group webpage, potentially increasing the awareness of your research as well.
Further information on accessing our data and samples is available in our Specimens Loans Pack.
